Centrelink wrongly issuing debt notices

About 20,000 Australians a week have received debt notices from Centrelink this summer.

It's the result of a new automated system which crosschecks information from various government agencies

But there are more and more reports of people wrongly receiving letters for thousands of dollars of debt.

Many have called for the system to be suspended until problems are ironed out—including the Labor Senator Doug Cameron.

RN Breakfast's Heidi Pett spoke to three people—all receiving different payments—who have been caught up in Centrelink's debt recovery dragnet
