Stressful waiting for 12 months

Debt amount:
$0
Period debt occurred:
December 2017 to December 2018
Has your case been referred to a collection agency?:
No
Payment Type:
Youth Allowance
Tell us about your debt and how has this affected you? e.g. anxiety levels, financial and accommodation stress:

I received a letter from Centrelink in December 2017, saying I potentially owned them a debt for Youth Allowance back in 2013-2014

Back then I had a part-time job, but I always report to them correctly, I also kept an eye on the Centrelink income bank credit to make sure I don’t go over it. I was on Centrelink for six months, eventually, I’ve got a higher paying part-time job, so I stopped reporting because I knew I'd go over the income bank credit and I no longer need money.

Little did I know that I’ve done all the right things and still got a letter!

Luckily I was able to get the bank statement from a closed bank account, as well as payslip from the job. I sent to them immediately.

12 month of waiting and the provisional review says I don’t have any debt. 12 months of stressful waiting!!

When they finalise the provisional review, they will not send you a confirmation unless you have a debt.
(so "reassuring")

How do you feel about the way the Government has handled this process?:

Bad
