Tell us about your debt and how has this affected you? e.g. anxiety levels, financial and accommodation stress:

Received the 'debt' letter just yesterday. I'm assuming the initial 'explain yourself' letter was sent to my previous address, because I never got it.

I was being paid Youth Allowance for 5 months of the 2013-14 financial year when I started my masters degree.
The first half of the financial year I was working more hours and didn't get anything from Centerlink.

Robodebt compared my yearly income with info from the ATO and has decided I was overpaid. I'm certain that I wasn't and that I've fallen victim to the dreaded algorithm.

Fortunately I'm in a position where I can afford to pay the 'debt'. But I worry that there will be more letters and more 'debt'. What if I can't afford it next time?
There might not even be a next time, but I'm going to burdened with stress and worry regardless.

I work full time the same hours that they are open.
I really don't have the time to fight with them. I would have to take time off work and that defeats the purpose.

I also have an overseas trip planned in a few months. I'll probably just pay them so I don't have to worry about them cancelling my passport.

How do you feel about the way the Government has handled this process?:

The situation would be laughable if it wasn't so awful.

It irks me that they have Bpay details on the letter. It feels arrogant, like they know we're going to give up and pay it.
