I was shocked when I received email to check myGov inbox, and it said I owe $2,100 from 3 years ago.

I rang them and they said they did not know how that amount was calculated, asked me to upload payslips from that financial year, which I did.

I told them as soon as I started that job and reported first two pays, I told them at that time to stop my payments as I had a job, had been full time carer for my mum before she passed.
They said I am entitled to still receive carers payment for a few more weeks even if working. ( huh??)

I have had amount I owe reviewed 3 times, dropped to $880, then went up to $1170, now at $1400.
All because I used my car for work and received a car allowance 6 months after payments stopped.

I’m sure they get a bonus if they can increase debt. Absolute idiots don’t know what they are doing, was polite first few times I rang them but last call I told them what I thought of them.

Will be receiving debt letter this week, plan to appeal but not through them.

Lucky I have a full time job and can pay this amount.
