Debt Owed From FY 2012 - 2013..... I cannot believe that Centrelink have the hide to charge an extra $235 debt recovery fee on top of the amount I apparently owe???
If I don't pay the outstanding amount of $2,800 by a certain date I would have been charged interest???
What the hell......
I am so confused, shocked & stressed out, as I am now a single mother raising a premature baby
I certainly do not need this financial burden or have the time or energy to be worried sick about this debt
My priority at the moment is my precious little baby
If I contest it I have to chase up previous employers' for weekly wage slips, by the way, I only have a timeframe of 21 days to get this proof!!
(Like I have nothing else better to do with my time.....)
I am currently paying off $50 per fortnight while I'm contesting this debt
By the time they investigate to see if it was all an honest mistake on their behalf I have been advised that I will be reimbursed the amount of $ paid
(Yeah right as if the outcome will be their mistake How would I be able to prove that when they can't tell me specific dates of when I was overpaid or the amounts??)
After telling part of my story I'm starting to think that it's probably going to be easier to pay the debt off & be done with it so I don't get a bad name & have the added stress of being threatened with the loss of my benefits
What do you do hey???
