got no letter, just a text message saying to log on to 'clarify' a question relating to payments by my employer.
i logged on to 'mygov' account, and thought it was a formality as i had recently started a new job and thought it was in connection to that.
at NO POINT did it warn i was being investigated for receiving payments i was not entitled to.
Then the page flashed up saying i owed them money and a debt recovery fee,
I thought this must be an error, so i clicked on the page for someone from centrelink to contact me to explain. which was a servivce their web page offered.
i had no call, then I receIverd a text message saying the final decision had been made by centrelilnk and i should log on to mygov account to see.I logged on and went to messages received, there was nothing, no message at all
so i thought the system must be faulty and did no more, thinking if it was real someone from centrelink would call to explain.
the next thing I get is a text message from Dunn and Bradstreet saying to contact them, I called and they said that there was now a debt collection against me!!!???
SHOCKED!!! UPSET!!! & severely disappointed that I can somehow have a negative credit action on my credit history when I have not even had any decision or communication form those that say I am owing them money.
1st there must be proof. getting me to click on a questionaire without informing me it will cause me to incriminate myself is plainly wrong. its akin to baiting!!
2nd. until someone has spoken to me about this, as per m request to their offer of someone to talk to has been honoured the situation is in stasis
3rd Dunn and Bradstreet should not be involved until this debt has been proven.
4th as this is not an isolated problem for me, but from many hard working aussies, i think this is a problem with the system, not proof that 170,000 of us are dole cheats and scammers.
this should be suspended pending a thorough investigation and the resources should be put in place to deal with all those that have been accused, but have not had any help or assistance form centrelink... which is a tax payer funded social security program, not a debt collection scam for the government.
STOP THIS NOW!!!
Arrogance to the extreme.
debts have not been proven to exist, yet they crow about how they have recovered money owed.
the minister responsible Alan Tudge says
"I'm not aware of individuals who are completely convinced that they don't owe money but have been given a debt notice."
Well Alan i suggest you get out of your ivory tower a bit more, there plenty of us disgruntled, lots more angry and even more of us stressed out that we should be accused with NO PROOF that any wrong doing has occurred, other than a recognizably inaccurate algorythm.
