never contacted, money stripped from tax return, claim was wrong

Although my amount is small, the principal is the same.

The period C'link assumed I was double paid was as a result of my former employer (that terminated my employment due to a disability suffered at work — yes, illegal termination), submitted a Payment Summary covering a 6 month period, even though I hadn't worked for them or earned any money from them for many months prior.
So even though the period on disability was for 6 weeks, and the period in the payment summary was for 6 months, the period overlapped, so Centrelink obviously assumed it was an overpayment.

C'link made no contact to me what-so-ever, and the first I knew about it was when my tax return was deducted with an unsubstantiated amount.
On contacting the ATO, they said they have no visibility of it at all and I needed to contact Centrelink, after spending the obligatory 40mins on the phone to C'link getting passed around by people who couldn't explain anything to me, I was told that I could bring in proof of my payments including payslips for the amounts earned - to which I replied, 'there is none, because I wasn't paid during that time.' Their response was that I go back 7 years in my bank accounts and print out each statement over the 6 month period and bring in.

The fact that they had no information to suggest I had received any payments that conflicted with the Centrelink payments aside from a poorly issued payment summary, doesn't matter. Well I have better things to do with my time than expose myself to the toxic Centrelink environment, to be looked up and down, and made to justify every item in my bank statements from 7 years ago and to somehow convince the sceptic doing the assessment they were wrong - What a load of crap!.
