this isn't so much about the affect of my debt on my life but the lack of care that the Government is showing. I just spent 35min waiting to get through to centre link. Didn't some one say that it on average it takes 12min? A minister?
Once I got through I spoke to a lovely Centrelink employee who was polite and went about checking all my documents that I had just uploaded were available for the compliance department to check against my supposed debt. This poor girl sounded as though she was about to burst into tears. Not only is this affecting thousands of the unemployed or previous recipients of benefits it is taking a toll on the already stretched employees of the service.
Once I got through to the compliance team. I asked that they check my uploaded payslips against my reporting for the year again but the response was that my debt was correct straight away, no checking or even looking to see if my documents were there to be checked?
I think he thought I'd just take it at face value. I asked if he'd even checked and the response was that my uploaded pay slips probably were not even available for him to view and that it would take weeks if they check it. I agreed to this but will diligently be checking that it has been done.
I'd also say I have a lot of faith in my local MP at this time and will be voting for him in the next election.
His office is seeing the constituents face to face in the office and advising them.
