Appealing Debt?:
I don't know how to
Tell us about your debt and how has this affected you? e.g. anxiety levels, financial and accommodation stress:

Huge anxiety single parent with two children one with a disability, contacted Local member of parliament was given telephone number of local Manager of Centrelink, very polite, but still said pay your debt or else...

For those 4 years I did my tax returns dilligently with Tax experts and also paid tax on parenting payment single.
I was told can only amend my tax return for the last two years, so now have to pay Centrelink debt from over 4 years ago, and cannot even claim back the tax I paid on this parenting payment single.

How do you feel about the way the Government has handled this process?:

Very hard to stomach when you see the generous pay increases politicians receive.
My debt of $14,000 would be a nice lunch out for the priviledged, whereas it is a huge burden for me to pay, and my children are the real faces behind the debt.

We were encouraged to link all our accounts together on the MyGov website, so I had the belief that if accounts are linked, it prevents this overpayment.
They surely should have a system worked out between the ATO and Centrelink where you can report your fortnightly income and at the end of each year you can see if there has been any over/underpayment and not get a debt from over 4 years ago. However in today's world it is the usual vulnerable people who are penalised.
