I was told I could work upto 25hrs per week without it affecting my carers payment. And I did so for 3 yrs while my partner was fighting for his life with kidney cancer. I had an initial debt of approx 25,000 (I threw out the letter, it stressed me too much to look at it) Ive been paying $100 a month since Sept 2016. Im on a low income of $22,000 and will be paying off this debt for the next 20 years. Im 54 now.
This year I received another letter and the new debt amount is $3150 on top of what I already owe!
I asked for a review and sent bank statements and pay info as requested but to no avail. I"ll be about 77 when this get paid off! Thanks for your help, government.
I feel totally deflated, depressed, worried for my future, and beyond words how helpless I feel.
