Received this debt in December 2015. This happened for financial years 2012-2013 and 2013-2014. Had to find a papertrail for all the contracts I had.Tried to appeal, gave them all the paperwork, even spreadsheet of when working and not. Payments "apportioned" over the years. Told me to start paying or Debt Collection will come. Some paperwork handed to Centrelink office never reviewed, have been paying $100 per fortnight for twelve months. I do not have a permanent job. I have been working as a contractor for four years.
Happened again in December 2016 for year 2014-2015. Have got all the paperwork, cannot upload it because system won't allow me. As soon as it does, I am going to the Ombudsman. I am so glad this is now public. The system is flawed. Want stress, try $100 per fortnight when you are only a contractor. Lucky this year I have had a 6 month contract that was extended for 3 months, then another 3 months, then currently due to finish end January 2017. How will I pay a debt then?
Absolutely appalling. I can see this is going to happen to me again, but thankfully enough people have come forward and it so obvious there is an error in their calculations. I may actually get the proper appeal I deserve. I can assure you, when I have accidently not paid every second Wednesday, I immediately receive either a phone call (quite rude) or a letter. You are treated like you are a criminal. My current contract is with a Qld Government State Department in procurement/contracts so I am not stupid!
