As you can imagine, I'm not happy, already have anxiety and depression issues and this has set it all off more than I'd imagine.
I was on Newstart while between jobs back in 2011, I got some work so stopped reporting with centrelink, hence no more income from Centrelink, about a month after working I was unemployed again and had to go back onto Newstart, signed up again, no worries. Fast forward almost 6 years and I get a letter from these scammers saying I now owe $670 and the only way I can prove my 'innocence' is to get my official start and finish dates from the company I worked for. Straight on the phone with them, the company doesn't exist anymore and my alternative was to get the dates from the ATO...who is on centrelinks side, apparently, and was of no help at all. So I'm now having to pay off a debt I don't owe and can't afford. How the hell did nobody notice something like this sooner, almost 6 years!!!
Very upset and angry. They didn't and wouldn't do anything...except tell me 'too bad, so sad, pay us, not our fault/problem'-not exact words but the basic gist of it. Whoevers in charge should be sacked.
