Like everyone else, enormous stress and anxiety which was all consuming. I no longer recognize the authority of this government or any of its departments. My citizenship is worthless. I will be leaving this country as soon as I have gathered the adequate resources as I cannot live in a nation in which its government breaks its own laws to brutalize its poorest and most vulnerable whilst awarding themselves and their wealthy masters every conceivable perk and luxury to a vulgar level.
There are hardly any opportunities and of what little still exists is seldom offered to those who would need them the most. Instead all manner of barriers are placed in front of the jobless, disabled and aged, quite deliberately, and then blamed and vilified endlessly for their predicament. There is nothing here anymore, no reason to stay.
It is quite clear that our democracy is dead. Obviously this issue along with others reveals the dawn of fascism in Australia.
Centrelink staff seem as a bewildered and confused as the victims of this brutal and unwarranted attack. The government clearly care nothing of how this affects citizens claiming that things are working well. Indeed they are not lying, this is what they wanted, they wanted to brutalize. They knew well beforehand how this will play out. It is about punishment. This punishment is also a distinct form of violence.
Manifestly inadequate Newstart allowance and other welfare payments, the overly and unnecessarily complex and deliberately time consuming ways Centrelink operates, the perverse mutual obligation activities, the trigger happy default ways payments are cancelled, the lack of any easy or expedient access right down to the quality of the recording of the 'on hold' music expresses the government's and ruling classes attitude towards those most in need.
The ministers of this government consider all welfare recipients a burden and an impediment to their personal pursuits of even more wealth and luxury through the further enrichment of their wealthy benefactor donors. Nothing else matters to them and they will attempt to destroy whatever they perceive as holding them back. It is only the law and the constitution that has so far prevented them in acting out a more diabolical and sinister procedure. However, in this instance the law has already been compromised, as it has been with the plight of refugees which is covered with secrecy and lies.Thus a more frightening future awaits unless they are stopped now. Perhaps something akin to the 'Pacific Solution' for the poorest of us. Perhaps even the 'Final Solution'.
