Tell us about your debt and how has this affected you? e.g. anxiety levels, financial and accommodation stress:
In October 2019 I opened my centrelink app to update my family income as we just finished our tax return, when I notice a letter on my inbox.
When I opened I went white as a ghost. The letter said I was overpaid by $6000 as I underestimated my income.
My husband and I were devastated as this never happened to us before.
We heard nothing from Centrelink warning us that this was happening. Also I noticed in 2 occasions, when I try to enter my estimate income the app would auto correct my figure to a lesser amount.
Very distressed about it as a family of 4 having to fork it out $6000 out of the blue.
How do you feel about the way the Government has handled this process?:
We are in the early stages of getting more clarity of how this happening. So we can not comment yet on how the government is handling our issue.
