Tell us about your debt and how has this affected you? e.g. anxiety levels, financial and accommodation stress:

My deabt is in appeal and has been for close to 12 months. They have put a hold on debt recovery for 3 months because the appeal still hasn't been processed and told me it can take up 2 years. But they took all my tax return of $1200 even though they have put a stop to recovering the debt. Centrelink told me they have the right to take tax returns and said if they appeal goes my way then it will be returned. I questioned the interest that I would be receiving on the money and they made a joke and said that you won't be paid from the Government interest. With all the people owing money and Centrelink taking their tax returns, even if we win the appeal the government has made money from all the interest they have received.
I just won't to be debt free and stress free from it. There is no set rules with Centrelink and they decide whether you have a case or not. Very unfair

How do you feel about the way the Government has handled this process?:

The Government has not handle by appeal in a timely manner. I don't see how it can take 12-24 months to process an appeal. At my work we have cut of periods and all appeals have to be finalised by a due date ( 3 months max) The government need to have the same in place.
