Called 3 weeks prior to gettinv married to let them know i was getting married on November 3 and would be away on homeymoon for 1 week. Was told to come to office on my return and do all paperwork. Returned and went into office and did all relevant paperwork. As marriage certificate hadnt arrived by this date was told paperwork would be submitted as soon as i could bring in certificate. It arrived on the friday morning and both husband and i went straight to centrelink office to submit it. Then in first week of May received my gov message that they had not taken my husbands income into consideration from Nov 3rd so I had incurred an overpayment of $1200 even though my husband was between jobs and had no income. I appealed this and 2 days ago logged onto my account to find they were going to start taking repayments as from 23 August. Rang them immediately as this was the first id known. Was asked if i had received a letter to which i replied that i hadnt yet and cannot afford to lose money from my disability pension as husband is not working. A second appeal has now been applied to which i am now awaiting an outcome.
I think this is totally unfair the way this is being handled and IF it turns out that i was overpaid, it was not through any fault of mine.
