Tell us about your debt and how has this affected you? e.g. anxiety levels, financial and accommodation stress:

This has been a truly awful experience.
I've had multiple Centrelink customer service operators hang up on me when trying to request a review or ask for a receipt number.
It has caused me great anxiety and has given me depression for weeks now.

My gf and I have been saving half our wages to save up for a home loan. And we're are in the middle of house hunting for a modest place we can afford so they fact that Centrelink sent me a notice the day before Christmas telling me I had a debt, and then sold that debt onto a collection agency a few weeks later has caused us immeasurable anxiety and concern.
That debt could affect our ability to secure a home loan now.
Not to mention the alleged debt I will have to somehow find a way to pay off.
(**they also sold my debt onto the collection agency AFTER I'd submitted my request for a review**)

How do you feel about the way the Government has handled this process?:

I'm really, really angry.
At every interaction I've had with the department I've been met with hostility and contempt.
I've been hung up on, and deliberately left on hold for long periods.

After my request for ARO I called up to follow up on my request and was told that they do not need to conduct a review until I have submitted evidence of earnings for the period.
Unless I do that I have no legal right to a review??!

What an astonishingly corrupt and foul department.
I feel some sympathy for the people who who have to work in those call centres but for the most part they have all been condescending and indifferent and have made me feel like I am guilty and just won't accept my guilt.

I'VE HAD ENOUGH. Just terrible.
