Tell us about your debt and how has this affected you? e.g. anxiety levels, financial and accommodation stress:

I have always done what asked, reported when needed. I was told the computer never received my tax income for each year 2015-2018.Which I was diligent to let them know, even going into Centrelink with physical paperwork because it wouldn’t upload on their website. I am a single parent of 3, I have been working while studying full time and caring for my mum with cancer. This couldn’t come at a worse time. So now I’m behind in bills, working/studying 6 days a week with Sunday’s to get ready for the coming week.and with repayments lessening my Newstart payments I am now selling my stuff online to get out of debt. Not one to give up but this has and still is overwhelming at times. I feel for older people that may have this happen to them.

How do you feel about the way the Government has handled this process?:

First woman kept saying she was sorry but what could she say. The second phone the man not gentleman for sure was rude and abrasive when I asked why the computer calculations were wrong an hour before and now were right. Said I had to pay full amount by due date, thankfully I rang back when I finally received the letter about the debt and was told a payment plan was possible.
