I was sent an email to mygov inbox regarding the debt the day befor xmas 2018

i new that something wasnt right and tryed not to stress about it but undoubtably the thought of how i was some how going to pay over 8k off lingered on my mind and destroyed my christmas new year period.
As im struggling to pay all my bills as it was.

How do you feel about the way the Government has handled this process?: 

After ring a few times prior and waiting on hold till my call disconected.
I rang on the 13th of January spoke to a nice guy that told me that everything on pause till they worked out my statements ect.

2 weeks later i recive not one but 2 letters of demand from a private third party debit collection agency claiming they had had the debit since 2017 and they had not been able to contact me and the debt was 2 years over due and nothing was on pause.

When questioned why had i only just found out about christmas eve i got told that they were going to garnish my wages in 3 days if i did not sort it out and avoided answering my question.

Rang centerlink back explained my case yet again asked to have my debit removed from debit collection as it shouldnt of been there given i originally had till th 22nd of feb 19 to pay it.

I povided statements that were requiered got told every thing was fine with those statements and they cut my debt in half and asked me to provide more statements which i know have no errors on them

now i just have to wait to see what they decide to do.
I felt bullied ridiculed and forced to commit to a debt even though i knew it was in error.
